Wilco

Friday night Alex and I went to see Wilco at the Greek Theater in Berkeley. If you have never been there, it is the absolute best venue to see a concert. It is entirely outside, and on a warm summer night (yeah right, we’re talking about the Bay Area…) it’s fabulous. Okay, so we wore fleece jackets in August, but it still beats a stadium show.

I think that Wilco is Alex’s most favorite band. I really like them too. We have seen 3 shows together (Alex squeezed in a 4th). Two of those shows were at the Greek. For those unfamiliar withWilco here is a link and a picture.

Alex loves concert t-shirts. I think if I raided his wardrobe and removed all the band t-shirts I’d come up with a handful of plain Banana Republic tees, but that’s about it. So of course he had to peruse the selections Friday night. He picked out a grey rooster shirt, which is pretty cool. And he also came back with this:

It is officially the first baby clothing item we have purchased. It’s pretty awesome. Like father like…

Blankets

This is about all we have done with our “nursery.” Currently it is still an office/guest room/storage area. It’s a bit hard to fully set up a nursery without knowing more about the child, who he/she is, where they come from, etc. So we’re waiting on most of that. But I did clear off the wall shelves, get some baskets from Ikea, and stack up all the kids books we have in the house.

The other day I was looking for a project. This happens now and again. Mostly when Alex is facing a big deadline, and I’m tired of watching television every night! I enjoy sewing projects I can finish quickly (read: in one night). I picked some cute fabric for one side, and flannel (so soft) for the other. Sewed them up, then blanket stitched the edge. I guess I didn’t need to do the extra stitching, but I like that I can do it while relaxing with a good movie and my pup (he kept wanting to crawl under them, so they must be soft). So I decided to make some baby blankets for future gifts. Problem is, I like them too much… so I’m just going to hold on to them, for now.

Milo in a box

Milo is a funny dog.  Lately he’s decided that he likes being inside things.  Like the laundry (see prior post).  I can’t fold laundry without him jumping inside the basket.  Recently we got something from Amazon and it came in a medium size box.  Milo has claimed this box for himself.  He’ll jump in, and stay there.  Nothing is inside… no treats, no toys.  Just a box.  Last night he had pushed the box up against the entertainment center and was jumping towards the television (he hates to see animals on tv — get’s him in a protective mode) and in his jumpy scare off the tv animals he tripped over the box and fell inside.  It was pretty funny.  He’s crazy.milobox.jpg

Wayne

One of our closest friends Wayne will be moving to Portland on Saturday. When we moved to San Francisco, about five years ago, Wayne was the first new friend we made. Alex invited him to Thanksgiving, back in 2002 (and he has come to every once since).

We have gone on vacations together to San Diego, Portland, and, of course, the annual camping trip.

Wayne comes to dinner every Sunday. And he’s a good sport for letting me try out all my new recipes. So for his last Sunday in San Francisco we decided to have a big “Comfort Food Sunday Dinner” and invite all his friends, who are all going to miss him terribly.

There is a program where you can upload a picture and it will pixilate it and print it out to 18 individual pages, which make up this huge picture of Wayne with all his friends. We hung it in the living room in the biggest spot we could find.

Milo even got into the spirit. Wayne loves to play with Milo the Badger hunter. Here is he is tuckered after the big event.

And here are a few shots of everyone watching the slide show of every picture ever taken of Wayne in the last five years…. it was long.

Good luck Wayne. We will all miss you. Know you can always move back……
