Yesterday we had a holiday extravaganza. We drove to La Honda to Skyline Tree Farm to cut our own Christmas tree.

Shawn, Robyn, and Grandpa and Grandma B. came with us. Grandma B stayed in the car to keep an eye on Ella while we found the perfect tree.

John thought you had to pay the tree.

After lunch we found the most amazing surprise. The Old Port Lobster Shack.

It was a mini trip to New England. They had great attention to details… for example, they have a local bakery make split-top hot dog buns, they use Hellman’s mayonnaise (not the local Best Foods), and they butter and grill the outside of the buns.

They advertised a Maine Rootbeer Float for $5…. I really think they were making that up — I’ve never heard of that.

They had picnic tables to sit at, and buckets of tasty oyster crackers on the table. (I had to sneak out a few bags in Ella’s diaper bag for later). We ordered waaaay too much food. We each got a lobster roll, one order of clam chowder, and an order of onion rings. Too much. But it was delish. Ella liked it too.
