I wrote this post last week — but our website crashed, so here is my delayed report of Memorial day weekend!
Last weekend had two extra days! Monday was Memorial day, and Tuesday our nanny was on vacation, so I took another day off. We always end up cramming a bit too much into our days, which lead to exhausted nights. But it was nice to spend so much time together.
Monday we drove up to Sonoma (where it wasn’t foggy) for a picnic.

The grounds were beautiful. And Ella quite enjoyed her mortadella.

“Not” posing for pictures. Elle doesn’t do anything she doesn’t want to….

Tuesday morning was full of errands. But in the afternoon after her nap Ella and I went north to the Bay Area Discovery Museum in Sausalito. It’s just over the Golden Gate bridge, and has amazing views of the city. We’d never been before, but loved it. It’s on an old base, so each building has a different theme. They even have a giant section for kids under 4.

This exhibit if you stepped on a button bubbles came out of the frog’s mouth.

This was part of the tot room. The floors are mini trampolines.

This was her favorite, playing with the fish in the stream. And getting wet. Very, very wet.

Hula hoop!

This clay was more like sand, but it stuck together like dough. Best part, it wiped off like sand.

Ella loved the music room. Where there were plenty of things to bang on and make noise.

Trains are her new favorite thing. She can’t see a Muni train without yelling “Hi choo-choo!!!” We may need to get her a set for her birthday.

This last room was full of SF related things. This stairway led to a fishing boat. She was much more interested in going up the stairs, then down the stairs, then up….

And here she is sorting the fish from the crabs. That is if she can see them.
On our Ikea trip earlier I picked up a pillow and duvet for Ella’s bed. We’re not quite ready to go to a toddler bed (I like that she can’t get out yet!) But this is the first transition. I took out the bumper, and put in the new bedding. Unfortunately, without the bumper all her pacifiers fell out of bed, which made a long night for the both of us. The bumpers went back in this morning. Baby steps….
